Birthdays

I had a great 33rd birthday on the 4th.  Julia and I went to Legends in Kansas City and got our nails done, while Wally took Aiden and Lexie and did the grocery shopping for me so I didn't have to.  So nice and much appreciated! Afterwards we went out to dinner and then came home and had some cake.  It was a  nice, relaxing day.  :)
A few days after my birthday, I ended up breaking my coffee pot one morning, so I treated myself to a little post-birthday gift :)

I don't know how I've survived without this machine so far! I LOVE IT!!!! I've been trying different flavors that have been recommended to me, that I've found in the grocery store, and I've ordered some online too.  I wish Starbucks made K-cups, but they don't.  :(  Maybe one day...

The other day I found Lexie flipping through InStyle magazine for the second time lately.  I asked her what she was doing, and she went into a 4 minute explanation about how she was looking at pictures of "makeup, golden stuff, pretty dresses, doggies, I just LOVE golden stuff, Mommy! And makeup.  And THESE shoes! Aren't these shoes awe-yum, Mommy?!" (awe-yum--awesome)  Wow!! One day she is going to have a major closet going! This girl loves fashion!!

On the 10th, our sweet girl turned 4 years old! Since she's not attending preschool, and we don't have any family nearby, her celebration was family-centered.  First we went to the Oak Park Mall to the Build a Bear store, something she's been wanting to do since we got here. We decided to save it for a special occasion.  All three of them got to make a stuffed animal at the store to commemorate Lexie's special day.  They were so excited!

On her big day, she informed us that no one is in charge of her today, and that Daddy is her servant :)

We went to the movies, and then went to dinner at a dinosaur-themed restaurant at Legends in Kansas City.  Then we went back home for dessert and presents, but didn't take a lot of pictures. :(  We were too busy having fun! :)

The next day she helped me make lunch and cupcakes in her new apron and hat from Grandad and GG! She loves it!

Here's one more of our sweet new 4 year old, my little sidekick, at Starbucks, as we waited for Julia to finish cheerleading practice on base a few days ago :)

And Lexie loves learning too...here's a copy of a recent Facebook post:
Lexie & I are looking at this world encyclopedia for kids with lots of pictures, we've been chatting about Earth and space for the past 15 mins or so....all of sudden she gives me a huge hug and says "You are da best mommy in da whole wide world cause you learn me soooo much! You da BEST teacher in da whole world! You learn me about EVERYTHING!"
